Week 26

We had a little episode occur this week. On Monday at 4AM I woke up sick and threw up every hour after that all day. I was nauseous and miserable. I could not even hold down water. At 2:30 I called the doctor's office and they said I need to go to the hospital and get on an IV for liquids for the baby's sake. It was a good thing I called; I was actually not going to call because I figured they wouldn't have much they could do for me, but little did I know, dehydration causes contractions and possible preterm labor.

At 3 I was admitted into St. Vincent's and stayed until about 8:30PM. They ran urine tests, blood samples, and I was given an IV bag of fluids and anti-nausea medicine. As I was hooked up to the monitors, the nurse as showing me the peaks and crests on the screen where I was having contractions due to dehydration. She also said something about ketones being in my urine, which is another sign of dehydration and that it was a good thing I came in.

Everything ended up being okay after the fluids started flowing. I began feeling better and was able to keep fluids down.

Lesson learned: never be afraid to call the doctor if something is wrong. Even if I think there is nothing they can do about it, or if it something minor. If I wouldn't have gone in, my contractions could have progressed into preterm labor and I don't want baby Cruz to come this early!

Other notes about this week: my back is killing me. I am really struggling with this. Bending over to wash my face at the end of the night is a killer. A heating pad has helped a lot. The end of the night is the worst, but it is also starting to hurt during the day. UGH! I may make a visit to the chiropractor.
