I had my 36 week appointment yesterday at 3:40PM. They did my Group B Strep test and an internal exam to check for progress. I was with Dr. Dahl since Dr. Ezell is gone. It seems like he is gone a lot! The exam was not as painful as I remember them being with Karmella, but it was certainly uncomfortable. She said my cervix was completely closed and was still "way back there," meaning it has not dropped yet. This is exactly what my doctor said with Karmella at this time. They called it a "posterior cervix" and it needs to drop to "anterior". I asked how effaced (thinned out) I was and she said about 50%. I was really expecting some dilation based off how I have been feeling and my size, but I guess not. That's okay; baby Cruz can cook and stay safe in there until he is ready. She did say the baby's head was super low and she also said contractions can start whenever they want, so I could start dilating tomorrow; however, I really think I might go the full 40 weeks or at least 39 weeks because that's what happened with Karmella. Dr. Dahl said they can induce me at 39 weeks if I want, just like they did with Karmella, but I said no. I don't want to be induced this time unless we go beyond the due date. I want Cruz to come when he's ready without forcing him out because the whole process took sooooo long when I was induced with Karmella and looking back now, the whole thought that I "forced" her out artificially with pitocin bothers me.
Weight Gain: 35 pounds still
Baby's Heartbeat: 131 bpm
My belly measurement: 39 cm (Seriously! I am huge.)
My next appointment is Monday, so we will see how I have progressed again!
Our Living Situation
Well, the 2nd house we thought we were going to get fell through. I was pretty bummed about this one! Now that it's been a couple weeks since we found out we weren't moving, I am actually okay with it because we would be moving this week and I could not IMAGINE moving right now. Instead, I can just relax and I have felt my stress level go down because we made a decision to just STAY WHERE WE ARE FOR NOW! All this back and forth stuff: moving, not moving, moving, not moving was stressing me out. On Monday Austin moved the stuff out of the corner of our master bedroom and brought up Cruz's dresser, changing table, and bassinet. He has his little corner of the room that I feel like is "his" so I'm much more content now. We are actually ready now for whenever he comes. We will begin looking again for a house in a couple months. Cruz will sleep in our room for at least 3 months, so we have until then to find a place.
